Roswell Robo Squad Robotics is committed to providing a safe, supportive, educational, and inclusive environment for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Because our program includes robotics, coding, engineering, 3D printing, competitions, travel, community events, STEM activities, and hands-on projects, we have established the following policies and information for students, parents, guardians, volunteers, interns, sponsors, and community participants.

This information is intended to help families understand how our program operates and what is expected when participating.

Important Legal Notice

The information on this website is provided for general informational purposes and describes Roswell Robo Squad Robotics' current programs, policies, and practices.

Nothing on this website is intended to constitute legal advice.

Program policies, schedules, competition requirements, safety procedures, travel plans, and participation requirements may change during the season.

K–12 Student Participation

Roswell Robo Squad Robotics serves students from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Students participate in age-appropriate activities based on their:

Safety considerations

Not every activity or piece of equipment is appropriate for every age group.

Certain robotics equipment, tools, software, competitions, travel opportunities, and advanced STEM activities may have additional age or participation requirements.

Roswell Robo Squad may limit participation in a particular activity when necessary for student safety, supervision, equipment requirements, or competition rules.

Parent and Guardian Responsibilities

Parents and legal guardians are responsible for providing accurate information about participating students.

Parents and guardians are expected to:

Complete required registration forms.

Provide accurate emergency contact information.

Provide relevant medical and safety information when requested.

Keep contact information current.

Review program policies.

Review competition information.

Review travel information.

Follow pickup and drop-off procedures.

Follow facility rules.

Notify Roswell Robo Squad when a student will not attend.

Communicate safety concerns or other important information to program staff.

Parents and guardians should not assume that a student may attend a competition, travel opportunity, special event, or other activity without the required registration or permission.

Student Safety

Student safety is one of the highest priorities of Roswell Robo Squad Robotics.

Our program may involve:

Robotics equipment

Motors

Batteries

Electronics

Hand tools

Power tools

3D printers

Heated equipment

Building materials

Computers

Cables

Competition fields

Physical activity

Travel and transportation

Students will receive age-appropriate instructions and supervision.

Students are expected to follow all safety instructions provided by coaches, instructors, volunteers, event staff, and facility personnel.

Failure to follow safety instructions may result in removal from an activity or other appropriate action.

Robotics and Equipment Safety

Robotics equipment must be used responsibly and only for its intended purpose.

Students may be required to receive instruction before using particular tools or equipment.

Students must:

Follow coach and instructor instructions.

Use required safety equipment.

Keep work areas clean.

Handle equipment responsibly.

Report damaged equipment.

Report unsafe conditions.

Never intentionally misuse equipment.

Never operate restricted equipment without authorization.

Access to certain tools or equipment may be limited based on a student's age, experience, training, or safety requirements.

3D Printing and Design Program

Roswell Robo Squad Robotics is expanding its STEM programming to teach students about 3D design, 3D printing, prototyping, and digital fabrication.

The purpose of our 3D-printing program is educational.

Students may learn how to:

Create 3D designs.

Use 3D modeling software.

Prepare files for printing.

Understand basic printer settings.

Operate or assist with 3D printers when permitted.

Troubleshoot printing problems.

Improve designs.

Create prototypes.

Use 3D printing as part of robotics and engineering projects.

Our program may use PLA, PLA+, and other approved materials.

3D printers contain heated components and moving parts. Students must follow all safety instructions and may be required to work under adult supervision.

Students may not independently operate restricted equipment unless they have received appropriate instruction and authorization.

Student Projects and Designs

Students may create original robotics designs, CAD models, prototypes, 3D-printed objects, engineering projects, software, presentations, and other educational materials.

We encourage students to take ownership of their learning and creative work.

However, competition projects must comply with the rules of the applicable competition organization.

A student-created project may need to be modified or rejected if it:

Violates competition rules.

Creates a safety concern.

Uses prohibited materials.

Infringes another person's intellectual property.

Cannot be safely manufactured.

Is inappropriate for the program.

Competition Rules

Roswell Robo Squad students may participate in competitions operated by different robotics organizations.

Each competition organization establishes its own rules, requirements, judging procedures, eligibility requirements, and advancement requirements.

Students and families are responsible for following the rules applicable to their specific competition.

Competition rules may change during a season.

Roswell Robo Squad will communicate important competition information to affected families.

Families should always refer to the official competition organization and current competition rules for final requirements.

Travel and Competition Expenses

As Roswell Robo Squad grows, students may have opportunities to participate in competitions, championships, STEM events, outreach events, training events, and other activities outside of Roswell.

Some of these opportunities may require travel.

Travel-related expenses may include:

Fuel

Lodging

Meals

Parking

Registration-related expenses

Rental vehicles

Other travel expenses

Roswell Robo Squad will make reasonable efforts to keep travel expenses as low as possible and seek financial support whenever possible.

However, parents and guardians should understand that:

The core Roswell Robo Squad program is free, but travel-related expenses are not automatically guaranteed to be free.

Some travel opportunities may require families to contribute toward expenses.

Families will be informed about known travel-related costs before commitments are made whenever reasonably possible.

Founder-Paid Expenses

During the previous season, Michael Winkler, Founder, Executive Director, and Head Coach of Roswell Robo Squad Robotics, personally paid certain program and travel-related expenses out of his own funds to help provide opportunities for students.

These personal contributions helped the organization during its early development and helped students participate in robotics and other opportunities.

Roswell Robo Squad is grateful for the personal commitment and support that helped the program grow.

However, personal contributions by Michael Winkler or any other individual should not be considered a promise or guarantee that future program, competition, or travel expenses will be personally paid by an individual.

As the program grows, Roswell Robo Squad is working to build a sustainable funding structure through:

Other lawful sources of support

Transportation

Transportation arrangements may vary depending on the event.

Parents and guardians will receive information about transportation arrangements when transportation is required for a Roswell Robo Squad activity.

Roswell Robo Squad does not guarantee transportation for every event.

Parents may be responsible for transportation to and from regular meetings, competitions, outreach events, and other activities unless separate transportation arrangements have been communicated.

Only authorized individuals may transport students as part of an organization-sponsored activity.

Medical and Emergency Information

Parents and guardians may be required to provide emergency information for participating students.

This may include:

Allergies

Relevant medical information

Medication information

Emergency treatment authorization

Physician or healthcare contact information

Parents and guardians are responsible for keeping this information accurate and up to date.

Roswell Robo Squad staff and volunteers are not medical professionals unless specifically identified as such.

In an emergency, Roswell Robo Squad may contact emergency services and the student's parent or guardian.

Emergency Medical Treatment

Parents and guardians should understand that Roswell Robo Squad will make reasonable efforts to contact them in the event of an emergency.

If an immediate emergency occurs and a parent or guardian cannot be reached in time, Roswell Robo Squad may seek emergency assistance for the student as permitted by applicable law and any signed authorization.

Parents and guardians should carefully review any emergency medical authorization included with registration materials.

Illness and Communicable Conditions

Students should not attend meetings or events when they are experiencing symptoms that could reasonably place other students, volunteers, coaches, or staff at risk.

Roswell Robo Squad may ask a student to leave a meeting or event if the organization reasonably believes the student is ill or unable to safely participate.

Parents and guardians should notify Roswell Robo Squad when appropriate.

Photography, Video, and Media

Roswell Robo Squad may photograph or record students during organization activities, including:

Robotics meetings

Competitions

STEM events

Outreach events

Fundraisers

STEM Festivals

Community demonstrations

Awards ceremonies

Special events

Photos and videos may be used to:

Showcase student achievements.

Promote STEM education.

Promote Roswell Robo Squad.

No Waiver of Legal Rights
